I have to admit, I’m a little skeptical about this one. But as a woman who has seen more than her fair share of sore feet, I’m willing to hope against the odds that a comfortable high heel can even exist.
French shoe designer Raphael Young is so confident his is the last heel you’ll ever need to wear, he actually patented the technology behind the design. The R-Flex line of footwear includes steel inserts in the heels, a latex gel injection in the leather soles, and a rubber injection in the balls of the feet. There is also an ‘anti-twisting steel accessory’ near the toes to stabilize the shoe and prevent the ankle from twisting.
All this technology sounds good, but it comes at a hefty price – the shoes start at around $575 US and go up from there. With the economy the way it is, unless these shoes were guaranteed to last forever and gave me a foot massage at the end of the day, I’ll probably have to pass for now. However, it is encouraging to know that some designers are actually designing shoes with our feet in mind. You can check out Young’s website here.
