With the recent outbreak of bedbugs everywhere from hotel rooms to Abercrombie & Fitch, I’m sure the thought of those little nusiances are making your skin crawl just reading this.
But now technology has made it a little easier to know when you’re about to become bedbug breakfast (yuk, I know!). Inventor Chris Goggin is introducing the Bed Bug Detective – a hand-held device that can literallly sniff out the pheromones that the bugs emit into the air. Exterminators have been using dogs trained to do this for years and now you can have the same capability in the palm of your hand. Goggin received a 2011 Invention Award from Popular Science and plans to put the device on sale soon for $200.
Personally, I think it’s a great idea, especially for frequent travelers. And $200 is a small price to pay for the peace of mind that comes from knowing you won’t wake up covered in bug bites. Now excuse me while I go wash all of my sheets in hot water…
When traveling abroad one of our travel mates was bitten to pieces by these little pest and she was miserable for the rest of the trip. I am just happy something like this is finally coming out. My tech Christmas list is growing fast! Hope this is on sale for black Friday! LOL!!!!
